First Time Out, Horton’s Vista Vertical Bow Takes #1

February 17th, 2008 by admin

Please read this as sharing our excitement, not that we are bragging.

Horton Manufacturing is excited to report that its new Vista Vertical Bow took first place in a 3-D outing of some 30 shooters held at Broken Arrow Archery in Newark, Ohio. This is the first tournament at which a Horton Vertical bow was used in competition.

“Of course, it goes without saying, the fact it was in the hands of Bryce Pennington didn’t hurt,” said Jeff Snook, National Sales Manager for Horton.

Bryce, a former Mathew’s shooter who recently switched to Horton Vertical, commented After shooting the bow at this tournament, “on a scale from 1 to 10, I’d give the Vista a 9.95″.  When asked why not a ten, Bryce said “there is always room for improvement.”

Horton introduced five models of compound bows this season following the acquisition of the CSS line. “If the first tournament is any indication, Vertical by Horton looks to have a bright future,” stated Chuck Nease, developer of the CSS compound bow.

Horton at the 2007 Canadian Archery Champions

November 9th, 2007 by admin

The 15th Annual Canadian 3D Archery Championship was hosted by Wolf’s Den Archers. This event was held in Utopia, Ontario from August 3 thru August 6 2007.

There were 242 shooters competing in 22 categories including classes ranged from Pee Wee to Masters.

Crossbows were invited as a guest class this year. Twenty-seven crossbow shooters attended the event shooting the crossbow brand of their choice.

Horton sent a team of shooters consisting of employees, prostaff members, and representatives from our Canadian Distributor, Monsen’s Sporting Goods.

Team Horton made a great showing. Pitting our stock hunting crossbows (sighted-in right off the shelf) against the other competitors using customized competition bows, Horton shooters took 4 of the top 6 place, including a 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th place.

Also competing in the Tournament was Horton Prostaff Member Carl Jones, taking 1st in the Bowhunter Fingers Class.

We would like to thank and commend the Banting Family and Wolf’s Den Sporting Supplies for all of their hard work that made this such a wonderfully, well organized event.

PS: Next year we intend to show up with both our crossbows and our new compound bows and kick some serious booty in both the Horizonal and Vertical classes.
