The last week in August 2008 was a week that I thought was going to slow my hunting for the year. I had a heart operation at OSU in Columbus, OH.
Six weeks after the operation a friend gave me three items to use. His friendship, his farmland to hunt and his Horton Crossbow. Wow, what a change. The first night I went out I had a large doe come within ten yards of me, and as I laugh now, I shot, with one pin went high and I gave the deer a high haircut and did not hurt the deer at all. Since I could not pull the bow back to cock it, the deer and I looked at each other and discussed the score. Deer 1 and myself 0. What a great experience. I could hit the bullseye right on every time at 30 yds. I never even thought about hitting high at shorter yardage.
To make this story short and my writing long, I did get a deer last year and now I am hooked. I love being able to shoot a arrow again. I ordered a new Horton Crossbow yesterday and I am going to get a cocking device for it. I ordered the red dot also with it so this year my plan is to get a extremely nice buck to present to you here.
Until next time I write, keep practicing and scouting, that is where you will find me. Best of success this year.

As a new dealer to horton and to crossbows in general, I had no idea that there were crossbow competitions. It's nice to see the positive promotion of the sport.
