Horton at the 2007 Canadian Archery Champions

The 15th Annual Canadian 3D Archery Championship was hosted by Wolf’s Den Archers. This event was held in Utopia, Ontario from August 3 thru August 6 2007.

There were 242 shooters competing in 22 categories including classes ranged from Pee Wee to Masters.

Crossbows were invited as a guest class this year. Twenty-seven crossbow shooters attended the event shooting the crossbow brand of their choice.

Horton sent a team of shooters consisting of employees, prostaff members, and representatives from our Canadian Distributor, Monsen’s Sporting Goods.

Team Horton made a great showing. Pitting our stock hunting crossbows (sighted-in right off the shelf) against the other competitors using customized competition bows, Horton shooters took 4 of the top 6 place, including a 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th place.

Also competing in the Tournament was Horton Prostaff Member Carl Jones, taking 1st in the Bowhunter Fingers Class.

We would like to thank and commend the Banting Family and Wolf’s Den Sporting Supplies for all of their hard work that made this such a wonderfully, well organized event.

PS: Next year we intend to show up with both our crossbows and our new compound bows and kick some serious booty in both the Horizonal and Vertical classes.

As a new dealer to horton and to crossbows in general, I had no idea that there were crossbow competitions. It’s nice to see the positive promotion of the sport.

The last week in August 2008 was a week that I thought was going to slow my hunting for the year. I had a heart operation at OSU in Columbus, OH.
Six weeks after the operation a friend gave me three items to use. His friendship, his farmland to hunt and his Horton Crossbow. Wow, what a change. The first night I went out I had a large doe come within ten yards of me, and as I laugh now, I shot, with one pin went high and I gave the deer a high haircut and did not hurt the deer at all. Since I could not pull the bow back to cock it, the deer and I looked at each other and discussed the score. Deer 1 and myself 0. What a great experience. I could hit the bullseye right on every time at 30 yds. I never even thought about hitting high at shorter yardage.
To make this story short and my writing long, I did get a deer last year and now I am hooked. I love being able to shoot a arrow again. I ordered a new Horton Crossbow yesterday and I am going to get a cocking device for it. I ordered the red dot also with it so this year my plan is to get a extremely nice buck to present to you here.
Until next time I write, keep practicing and scouting, that is where you will find me. Best of success this year.
